The Story

This stunning golden-beige Chubutensis tooth from Lee Creek features glossy enamel and sharp, well-preserved serrations. There is a small chip on the bourlette, though it is not as noticeable with the tooth’s light coloration. Overall, it remains an outstanding and highly collectible specimen.

The Chubutensis  (Otodus chubutensis) was a massive prehistoric predator that lived during the Miocene and early Pliocene epochs. Considered an evolutionary link between Otodus obliquus and Otodus megalodon, it had large, serrated teeth with distinctive side cusps, which later disappeared in its descendant, Megalodon. Fossils of Chubutensis have been found worldwide, indicating it thrived in diverse marine environments, preying on large marine mammals like whales.
